Welcome!

Welcome to our new blog, SLO living! For those of you who don't know, Jedd and Whitney are in the process of moving to Slovenia where they will be living for the next 11ish months. We have both had travel blogs in the past and are excited to create this one for the enjoyment (we hope!) of our friends and family. We hope to post lots of pictures and share our adventures with you all. We're looking forward to a year of new experiences, outdoor adventures, culinary delights and everything in between!

Here are some practical updates about what's going on for us:

• Jedd is in Ljubljana! He arrived on Sunday, October 7th and we have a sweet little apartment just outside of the old city in Ljubljana. 
• We live in an excellent location with two canals within three minutes of our apartment, a castle that's ten minutes away, and a daily market within a fifteen-minute walk.
• Jedd looks like a Slovene! This is probably no surprise to the Sankars, but little old ladies and cashiers all talk to him in rapid Slovene and he says that all the ladies look just like his mom and his aunts.
• Everyone in Ljubljana wears coats! This one might take a little more explaining, but apparently, the Slovenes want to celebrate the fact that it's fall so everyone is wearing sweaters and jackets and even puffy coats even though the lows are in the 50s and the highs are in the 70s (Fahrenheit)! As Jedd is trying to fit in, he's been wearing a jacket around and sweating copiously wherever he goes...definitely a good first impression!
• Whitney is packing up the car and the cabin on the farm and prepping for her upcoming move. She flies out of Seattle on Sunday, October 21st and is both desperate to be there and start exploring and very happy to have time to clean everything up and say her goodbyes to this place and these people she loves so much. (Ahem, her "see you laters")
