Picture update!

Whit and I went to my great-great-grand-Uncle Ivan's gravesite on All Saints Day in Ljubljana. I am really glad we went. This isn't something that I grew up doing all that often but it was neat to take part in a Slovene tradition and get to know my family history a bit better. The cemetery was super busy and we felt like good Slovenes.

Whit and I day-tripped down to Koper, which is the largest Slovene town on their 28 miles of Adriatic coast. The city has been around since before Roman times and there was some pretty impressive sites to be seen. I am sure we will go back sometime soon! Couple more pics below from the stroll around the ancient city.

We went bird watching! There was a community walk led by a local birding group at Tivoli park. This was a pretty fun morning. Definitely a lot of beginners out there with dogs, kids, and no binoculars but it was still nice to get out and learn some Slovene bird facts.

Here we have a trio of pics from our recent trip to Velenje. This first one is from the mini-adventure that was Whitney trying to remember how to drive stick in Irena's car. There were some mixed results but the future looks bright! Once we were in Velenje, we went to a great local art gallery and explored a lake that was created when they mined too much coal to power the local power plant. The plant is still running and the lake is getting bigger. Neat!
